Capital of Antioquia, Colombia, also known as the city of eternal spring, due to its temperate climates and its famous “flower fair”. One of the characteristics of this great city is its metro cable and tram that allows you to get around Medellín. It also has a Parque Botero full of sculptures created by the famous artist Fernando Botero. This city is one of the most important in the country and with more numbers of connections along with Bogotá.
It has two terminals, one located in the north, which provides services to the north of Antioquia such as Bogotá, Tunja and the Caribbean zone such as Santa Marta, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Valledupar; and the other in the south of the city, which provides services to the south of Antioquia such as the Coffee Region, Cali, Popayán and Ibagué. It also has two airports; one for mainly international flights called José María Córdova, 35km from Medellín in Rionegro; and another mainly national called Enrique Olaya Herrera, in the El Poblado neighborhood.
The currency handled in the city and in the country is the Colombian peso with bill denominations of $2,000, $5,000, $10,000, $20,000, $50,000 and $100,000. It is advisable to load the first bills that are of low denomination to make small purchases and transport. Coins with denominations of $50, $100, $200, $500 and $1,000 used to complete small payments are also handled. With respect to the dollar, the variation is constant, in 2021 1 dollar was equivalent to $3,900 and in the middle of 2022 it is $4,450.
